AOSfcare Mums for Memory

Be a Friend to Someone with Dementia In 2021

This year marks the 6th annual Mums for Memory™ fundraising event; the primary funding source for AOS and Friends Care.  Mums for Memory™ provides the community with an opportunity to be a friend to someone with dementia and help provide the resources and services they and their families often need.

Your donation to this event comes with a purple mum. Purple is the designated color to represent Alzheimer’s awareness and is representative of community support. The prevalence of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia in our community continue to grow as people live longer. People often ask what they can do to help? Supporting Mums for Memory ™ provides you an opportunity to be a friend to someone with dementia.

AOS & Friends Care provides a variety of free services to the community including direct care grants, personalized music players, robo companion pets, resources, and education.  During the past six years, we have seen steady growth and been honored to give to those in our immediate community.

The direct care grant funds enable income qualified families to get the respite care they need, hands on care in the home and a care manager to help them identify resources and make decisions. Often, there is no other funding source available to help provide these resources. AOS and Friends Care is honored to help to fill this gap but needs the ongoing financial support of the community to make it possible.

Our annual Mums for Memory™ fundraiser is scheduled for October 14th.  We are partnering with Gully’s Garden Center to provide beautiful purple mums. Mums will be available at the Aging Outreach Services offices to be picked up curbside, or delivered, or donated to a local facility.

The need for funds and community support is year-round.  So, we are asking for your help starting now.

Helping is easy. We offer sponsorship opportunities and accept individual donations. Each $25 donation comes with a beautiful purple mum. Mums may be dedicated “in honor” or “in memory” of someone that has experienced dementia or is caring for those with dementia such as a caregiver or a front-line worker.  All funds raised go to support our direct care grants, music players and robo companion pets.

Social media posts, as well as our commemorative bookmark and event program will recognize each sponsor, and individual dedication.

This is a cause near and dear to our hearts, and we truly hope you will consider being a sponsor or making an individual donation.
